Step 1: Apply your light pink base shade

Start by applying Dip & Dap - DD005 Crepe in 2-3 thin, even layers to get enough coverage and a smooth finish. Cure the nails under a reliable flash-curing lamp for 30 seconds. 

 

Step 2: Put a layer of matte top coat

 

Think of this as prepping the nail so everything you add next stays crisp and in place. Once your base is fully set, apply a layer of iGel Beauty Matte Top Coat and cure for 30 seconds. This step helps remove the shine and creates a slightly textured surface. A matte base makes it easier to control your nail art and prevents the design from slipping around. It also helps the next layers grip better, especially when working with fine or intricate details. 

Step 3: Paint your Cat Eye nail design

 

Let’s get pretty in purple! Using a thin liner brush, pick up your purple cat eye polish, LB 10D Supernova Cat Eye - SCE10 Betelgeuse, then form petal-like shapes. Place three small petals in the upper right and three in the lower left, or adjust to your preferred layout. 

The goal is to create a soft, balanced floral look that’s easy to recognize from a distance. Keep your strokes light and controlled so the petals don’t look too heavy. This step sets the foundation of the design, so take your time shaping each petal.

Step 5: Trace the petals and add more details with black liner

 

Using your black gel liner (02 Black on Black from the Line Art Gel Kit - 24 Color) and thin line brush, carefully trace around each petal to define the shape. This outline adds contrast and makes the floral design stand out more clearly. Keep your lines thin and controlled so the look stays elegant, rather than overpowering for Mother’s Day. After tracing, flash cure for 30 seconds to set the details. Adding borders or edges in nail art sharpens the overall design and gives a beautiful contrast.

 

Step 6: Add gold details using gold chrome pigments 

 

We can all agree that gold adds warmth and pairs beautifully with purple shades. Grab your Mirror Chrome MC24 - Champagne Gold or Chrome Powder Pen - Mirror Chrome - MC11 Dark Gold, then gently apply over the design. Focus on enhancing parts of the petals to make them more noticeable. Once you’re done applying, lightly dust off the excess using a soft dust brush. This step may be simple, but the glow it gives truly makes a big visual difference.

 

Step 7: Complete with a no-wipe top coat or add more finishing touches

 

For the final step, lock everything in with an iGel Beauty No Cleanse Top Coat for 60 seconds under your nail lamp to protect the design and add a smooth finish. If you want to elevate the look further, you can add a pearl charm (Nail Art Charms - 102) at the center of the flower and secure it with Jewelry Gel. Then, finish with your final top coat to keep the shine and design in place. Both options give a polished, Mother’s Day-ready result.
